After suffering the disappointment of losing the Dundee derby last week, the
Tannadice men bounced back with a well deserved 3-0 win over Aberdeen at
Pittodrie.
United's recent inability to grab wins to match their decent performances on
the pitch was non-existent as the Taysiders played with plenty passion,
commitment and confidence - none of which was evident in the Aberdeen side, who
have now gone 14 League matches without a win.
The result piles even more pressure on under fire Dons boss Alex Miller, who
earlier this week signed Nigel Pepper after parting with Craig Hignett.
Aberdeen were rarely in the match and fell behind after 17 minutes when Kjell
Olofsson slotted home the opening goal after collecting a Lars Zetterlund pass.
Ex-Don Joe Miller replaced the injured Alex Mathie in 49 minutes and with his
second touch of the ball put United 2-0 ahead when he latched onto an Olofsson
pass before rounding Dons keeper Jim Leighton and poking the ball in the empty
net.
Goal number three soon followed with Olofsson again involved. The Swede ran to
the by-line before crossing for Craig Easton who scored easily past Leighton
from six yards.
Ironically this was Easton's third goal since breaking through into United's
first team, with all three strikes coming against the Dons.
The extent of the Dons fans displeasure at their team's recent performances -
they are level on points with basement club Dunfermline - and results was
evident long after the final whistle as hordes of Aberdeen supporters gathered
at the main gate with chants of "Miller must go!"
