Chris Maguire has no intention of quitting Aberdeen in January if he fails to break into Mark McGhee's starting line-up.
Striker Maguire started his first Dons game since the opening day of the season in the 1-1 Clydesdale Bank Premier League draw at Kilmarnock almost two weeks ago.
Despite starring for Scotland Under-21s this term, the 20-year-old has found game time at club level hard to come by since Aberdeen made a disastrous start to the season.
Reports at the weekend suggested Maguire felt McGhee had made him the scapegoat for that. But the player told Red Matchday magazine: "I've never said I wanted to leave the club in January - and I made it clear I don't have any problems with the manager.
"All I've said is that I want to start every game, which is all that any player wants. If I didn't feel like that, then the manager would think there was something wrong with me.
"I know it's up to me to put myself in his plans, and that's what I'm looking to do over the next few weeks. It's as simple as that."
(reopens) Meanwhile, Aberdeen today agreed to terminate the contract of defender Rogvi Holm.
The club say the 19-year-old has been allowed to return home to the Faroe Islands, who recently capped him at under-21 level, due to a lack of first-team opportunities.
