Third Division new boys Gretna proved they were a force to be reckoned with
after a 4-1 win over Montrose.
The visitors took a shock lead after just seven minutes
when some sloppy defending led to a goal for Chris Webster.
Gretna equalised in the 25th minute when Davie Irons powered the
ball into the net.
There was another goal for them before half-time when Mark Dobie made no mistake with just the keeper to beat.
They went 3-1 up after 62 minutes through a John Hore strike and 20
minutes later Hore struck again.
Albion Rovers maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a comfortable 3-0
win at East Stirling.
Albion tok the lead a minute after
the break when Todd Lumsden powered a header into the net off the underside of
the crossbar.
They then struck with two goals in the last 10 minutes, both converted by John Bradford.
Queen's Park and East Fife played out an entertaining 0-0 draw at Hampden Park.
Stirling picked up their first point of the season after a 1-1 draw with Elgin.
Elgin took the lead after 20 minutes when Michael Sanderson headed in Chris
Love's cross at the far post.
Stirling drew level on 27 minutes. Paul Nugent crossed from the right and
Steve Mallan scored with a fine header which went in off the post.
Peterhead beat Morton 4-2 at home to chalk up their first win of the season in a
game which saw two of their players shown the red card.
An action-packed first half saw the Blue Toon trialist turn from hero to
villain. After eight minutes, he headed home a Gordon Burns cross at the far
post.
And in the 22nd minute, his cross from the left side of the penalty area found
Ian Stewart, who bulleted a header high into the net.
A two-goal burst just before half-time saw the trialist's shot parried by
goalkeeper Craig Coyle into the path of Martin Johnston to score from close
range.
A minute later, Stewart scored his second goal with a low shot at the far
post, but then the trialist was sent off for his second bookable offence just
before half-time.
Morton dominated after the break and pulled a goal back six minutes from time
through Jani Uotinen before scoring another in the 87th minute through a John
Maisano penalty, while Peterhead's Robbie Raeside was sent off for his second
bookable offence.
