Inverness regained top spot in Division One with a hard-earned 1-1 draw against
bottom-of-the-table Alloa.
The Jags got a dream start when Bobby Mann gave them the lead with a
thundering 25-yard free-kick in the fifth minute.
Alloa were quick to react and Thistle keeper Mark Brown made an excellent save
when Scott Crabbe unleashed a blistering 20-yard drive.
The home side returned to the attack and Myles Hogarth made superb saves from
Dennis Wyness and Richie Hart before the unmarked Gareth Hutchison headed the
equaliser from an Andy Seaton corner on the stroke of half-time.
Inverness were reduced to 10 men when Grant Munro was ordered off for a second
bookable offence on 71 minutes.
They have Brown to thank for their share of the points when he made a
wonderful save from Hutchison four minutes from the end.
In the only other game of the day, Arbroath lifted the gloom at Gayfield with a splendid 2-1 win over relegation
rivals Ross County.
The home side were pumped up from the start and soon opened the scoring when a
clever run and cross from Gavin Swankie bounced off Mark Perry and looped over a
despairing Tony Bullock.
The home team could have doubled their lead on 22 minutes but a Craig Feroz
penalty was pushed wide by the County keeper.
But just before half-time Arbroath grabbed a second goal when Swankie headed
home a Greg Henslee cross with a great opportunist dive.
It was a closer contest in the second half and when Steve Hislop scored for
County with five minutes remaining, it made for a frantic finish, but home fans
were delighted to see Arbroath dig in to secure a long-awaited win.
