Falkirk got back to winning ways after two consecutive draws with a comfortable
3-0 victory over Alloa at Brockville.
The Bairns took the lead in the eighth minute when John Henry defied a
seemingly impossible angle to spin and flash a left-foot shot high into the
net.
The Wasps passed up a glorious chance to level eight minutes from the break
when John Hughes gave the ball away to Gareth Evans, who had only keeper Allan
Ferguson to beat.
The veteran striker hit his shot straight at the keeper, who gratefully
grasped the ball to his chest.
Falkirk doubled their advantage four minutes after the restart.
Mark Kerr played a beautifully weighted pass through the inside-left channel
in front of Owen Coyle, who slotted a shot across goal and in at James Evans'
left-hand post.
With 77 minutes gone, Falkirk made it three when Kevin James rammed the ball
into the roof of the net.
Inverness outclassed Ross County to win 2-0 in a one-sided Highland derby.
In the week Caley manager Steve Paterson signed a new five-year contract, his
team turned on the style in front of over 5,000 fans at Victoria Park.
Barry Robson caught the County defence napping after just 40 seconds when he
curled the ball past goalkeeper Tony Bullock from 20 yards.
The visitors extended their lead in the eighth minute when a seemingly
harmless cross from Ross Tokely was blasted high into his own net by former
Caley captain Mark McCulloch.
Inverness continued to dictate the pace and it took County until the 55th
minute to manage a shot on target. Steve Ferguson's effort was easily held by
goalkeeper Mark Brown.
Goals in the first and last minutes gave St Johnstone a deserved 2-0 win over
Arbroath in a poor encounter at McDiarmid Park.
An early gaffe from Lichties goalkeeper Craig Hinchcliffe gave Saints the
lead.
Chris Hay's shot hit the post, but Hinchcliffe's blunder saw the ball cross
the line.
Arbroath's Murray McDowell was sent off after two yellow cards for rash
challenges on Paul Hartley.
And, with time running out, a superb shot from fully 30 yards saw Hartley cap
a good performance with an excellent shot which went in off the post and left
Hinchcliffe stranded.
An exciting game in Paisley saw Clyde beat St Mirren 4-1 after trailing at
half-time.
The visitors, now unbeaten in six games, started poorly and the home side went
ahead midway through the first half.
Ricky Gillies curled in a corner and defender Ricky Robb got the slightest
touch with his head to knock it in.
The second half belonged to Clyde and they equalised in the 62nd minute
through veteran Andy Millen, who fired in a great left-foot shot from 18 yards.
Twelve minutes later, Leigh Hinds crossed from the right and Colin Nish
side-footed home from six yards.
Jack Ross scored in the 80th minute when he strolled forward on the right
before thundering in a ferocious right-foot shot from 14 yards.
In injury time Nish grabbed his second when he lashed the ball home from close
range.
The day's other game saw Queen of the South win 1-0 at Ayr thanks to Brian McLaughlin's 58th-minute goal.
