Hat-tricks from Dennis Wyness and Paul Ritchie destroyed Alloa as Inverness Caledonian Thistle recorded a thumping 6-0 victory in a one-sided affair at Recreation Park.

After six minutes, Wyness grabbed his first goal from close range, followed by a second from 18 yards, capitalising on a slip by goalkeeper James Evans.

When Wyness slotted in his third goal after 21 minutes from just outside the area, Alloa knew they were in deep trouble.

The pressure continued and with 27 minutes gone, Ritchie cracked in the fourth goal, high into the net from 22 yards.

Caley continued strongly in the second half with Ritchie adding the fifth goal after 71 minutes before completing the rout with the sixth, and his third, with 11 minutes left.

Leaders Falkirk were frustrated for an hour before finally running out 3-0 winners over visitors Ayr.

The opener for Falkirk finally came in the 60th minute when a Lee Miller cross was met by the boot of an unfortunate Allan McManus who turned the ball into his own goal.

McManus was booked in the 74th minute and lasted just a further two minutes before a second yellow ended his participation.

Falkirk then went two in front when Owen Coyle cleverly beat the Ayr offside trap.

And with just four minutes remaining Coyle sealed the victory when he latched on to the end of a cross.

Ross County cruised to a 4-0 victory over struggling Arbroath.

Steve MacKay headed County into the lead after just 72 seconds and Steve Hislop added a second a minute later with a close range volley in a pulsating start.

It was an uphill struggle for Arbroath after that and Hislop put the result beyond doubt five minutes before the break when he rose to head home after Irvine helped a MacKay corner on its way.

But the best goal of the game was kept to last as Hugh Robertson let fly in the 74th minute and his 35-yard shot flew straight into the top corner of the net.
