Aberdeen will re-launch their bid for striker Dennis Wyness when Inverness
Caledonian Thistle's Scottish Cup run ends.
Caley have been drawn at home to Celtic in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
But Pittodrie manager Steve Paterson and assistant Duncan Shearer will
immediately move to speak to the Highland club's top scorer if they are defeated
by the Parkhead side.
Shearer admitted he and Paterson were determined not to miss out on Wyness
when the transfer window opens again in the summer.
Shearer told the Evening Express: "Inverness have got a very important cup
match coming up and we don't to interrupt their preparations.
"Once their cup run comes to an end, if it does, we'll have to arrange a
meeting with Dennis.
"We need to get Dennis' views on what he plans to do.
"Basically he's got to decide whether he wants to come here or we'll have to
forget it.
"I would hate for him to say to us at the end of the season that he's going
to go somewhere else.
"He's our number one target and he will be until he makes a decision.
"He's said all along he'll listen to offers and decide what he wants to do in
the summer. Hopefully he'll come here."
Paterson and his coaching staff are set to decide the future of other players
this week.
Darren and Derek Young, David Preece, Chris Clark, Jamie McAllister and Ross
O'Donoghue are included in a list of players nearing the end of their current
deals.
Shearer said: "The boss wants to meet all the coaches this week. We'll all
express our own views on each individual player."
