Rangers comfortably brushed aside their American pro-am opponents in Fort
Lauderdale on Thursday.
The Ibrox men took the lead as early as the 14th minute courtesy of an
own-goal when Brazilian Marcio Novo diverted Peter Lovenkrands' cross past his
own keeper.
And just two minutes later the champions had doubled their lead when Kenny
Miller coolly slotted home Andre Kanchelskis' cross at the near post.
Rangers should have increased their lead before the break, with Michael Mols
and Arthur Numan both going close.
Lorenzo Amoruso, who has been the subject of much speculation surrounding his
future, came on at the break as Dick Advocaat made sweeping changes.
But the Dutchman would have been worried to see Tore Andre Flo hobble off
midway through the second period after a tackle from a defender.
There was still time for Amoruso, who was earlier booked for a reckless
challenge, to become surrounded in controversy.
The Italian was involved in a flare-up with an opponent late on and the
referee called an end to proceedings, saving Amoruso from a humiliating sending
off.
