Kilmarnock's inability to find the back of the net came back to haunt them
again as they lost the final game of their winter tour in Spain.
Following Saturday's 3-2 defeat at the hands of Heerenveen Killie were beaten
2-0 on Sunday by another Dutch side, Vitesse Arnhem.
Vitesse, now coached by former Holland and Barcelona free-kick specialist
Ronald Koeman, took the lead when the unfortunate Martin Baker put through his
own net.
The Dutchmen sealed their victory when Arco Jochemsen rose powerfully to head
the second goal past goalkeeper Gordon Marshall.
Bobby Williamson's side now return to Scotland to prepare for the second half
of a Scottish Premier League season which they will be hoping is as different
from the first half as it was last season.
Killie suffered an alarming slump after Christmas last term, culminating in an
ignominious Scottish Cup exit at the hands of First Division Ayr United and
almost saw them miss out on Europe.
They have struggled again this term, just one place off the bottom of the SPL
table.
