Stoke defender John Halls is in talks with Southampton to discuss a possible move to St Mary's.

The clubs agreed a fee, thought to be £200,000, for the 23-year-old centre-back, who is out of contract at the Britannia Stadium in the summer.

Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe told his club's official website: "We have agreed terms and will meet him on Monday. He is a good age with a good background and we think he would be a good acquisition."
