Bolton substitute Eidur Gudjohnson rescued a point for the promotion chasers
to clinch a draw in a thrilling match.
His header 13 minutes before time sealed the end of a superb fightback after
Mark Walters scored a superb free-kick to put Swindon 3-1 up.
Claus Jensen had made it 3-2 two minutes after Walters' strike with an
individual run past three defenders and a fine shot.
Swindon were leading at half time thanks to a Bobby Howe goal and when Chris
Hay scored it looked as if Bolton's promotion hopes were completely off the
rails.
Mark Fish, with half an hour to go, put Bolton back into the game after a Neil
Cox header allowed Fish to whack an overhead kick into the net.
The game came alive in the second half. When Walters' free-kick went in it
looked like the points would be sealed for Swindon but in a game of seven yellow
cards Bolton fought back heroically to capture what could be a vital point.
Swindon could have scored another in the first half when Walters' free-kick
curled in wickedly and missed everybody and Bolton keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen
could only watch as the ball rebounded to safety.
Just before half time Jensen caused havoc with a great run which resulted in a
booking for Scott Leach after a foul. Jenson took the free-kick himself which
was well saved by Swindon goalkeeper Frank Talia.
And with the game at 3-3 both sides could have grabbed winners.
Hay, with 10 minutes to go, was completely through on goal for Swindon but a
fine save by Jaaskelainen kept his side on level terms.
