Aston Villa full-back Stephen Warnock is set to have his yellow card from Saturday's 1-1 draw with Everton rescinded after referee Lee Probert accepted he mistakenly booked the wrong player.

Warnock was cautioned following a challenge from Stiliyan Petrov, who is now set to receive a delayed booking following Probert's admission.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill said: "The referee has accepted that he got the identification wrong so Stephen Warnock will get the card rescinded.

"If it is mistaken identity sometimes it gets handed on and I assume it will go on to Stiliyan. Tough luck Stiliyan!"
