Wolverhampton failed to take their chances as they lost 2-0 to Spanish side Real Valladolid in a pre-season friendly at Molineux.

Early on Dave Edwards hit a 25-yard shot over the bar and then Matt Javis had a superb angled drive saved by Valladolid goalkeeper Justo Viveros.

Valladolid went ahead on 29 minutes when Haris Medunjanin fired past Wayne Hennessey.

Wolves missed a penalty on 73 minutes when a Valladolid defender handled the ball and sub Kevin Doyle had his effort saved by Viveros.

Vallodolid then increased their lead on 88 minutes when Antonio Fernandez crossed and Asier Martin netted with a volley.

Edwards then scored for the home side but his effort was disallowed for offside.
