Wolves swept three points clear at the top of Nationwide Division One thanks to a second half super show against Crewe.
The Railwaymen made all the running against their high-flying visitors before four goals in 14 minutes made it seven wins out of eight for Dave Jones' men.
Nathan Blake fired the visitors ahead against the run of play on 53 minutes
from 18 yards after Dean Sturridge created the opening.
Four minutes later Alex Rae doubled the lead with a 30-yard drive that was
palmed into the corner of the net by keeper Clayton Ince.
Welsh international Blake fired in his eighth of the season on the hour mark
after Shaun Newton teed him up in the box.
Amazingly it was four on 67 minutes when Mark Kennedy's cross was deflected
past Ince by unfortunate Alex full-back David Wright.
Crewe's highly-rated strike pairing of Rob Hulse and Dean Ashton had earlier
caused panic in the Wolves defence with almost every touch.
Hulse should have scored as early as the fourth minute, but delayed his shot
and allowed keeper Michael Oakes to smother.
From the corner Ashton flashed a volley inches wide after latching onto Efe
Sodje's cushioned header.
Wolves were finally stirred into action and a typical bursting run by Blake
saw his rising drive expertly tipped over by Ince.
But with Ashton and Hulse continuing to cause chaos, alarm bells continued to
ring in the Wolves defence.
Hulse fired into the side netting and Ashton missed another golden chance on
the half hour, heading onto the roof of the net from Neil Sorvel's pinpoint
delivery.
Ashton, the subject of a £1million bid form Arsenal before he even made his
Crewe debut, showed more of his repertoire with a vicious long-range effort
turned over at full stretch by Oakes.
Kevin Muscat fired an early intention of Wolves' second-half fightback with a
blistering drive that was inches over the angle.
But soon after Wolves wrapped up their seventh league win in eight games to
move clear at the top.
Rodney Jack scored Crewe's consolation goal in the 88th minute.
