Robbie Keane was the hero for Tottenham as they defeated French champions Lyon to lift the Peace Cup in Seoul.

Keane scored twice to give Spurs an unassailable lead by half-time, with Gerard Houllier's side scoring late on to reduce the deficit.

Lyon had Michael Essien in the starting line-up - the midfielder is a target for Barclays Premiership champions Chelsea - but he could not find a way back into the match for his side before he was substituted.

Martin Jol's side were ahead after six minutes when Wayne Routledge's cross towards Stephen Kelly was diverted in off Lyon's Jeremy Berthod.

Keane then doubled the lead two minutes later, diverting Mido's cross past France stopper Gregory Coupet.

Lyon had plenty of experience in their line-up - former Arsenal striker Sylvain Wiltord started - but the game was beyond them by half-time as Keane slotted home from another Mido cross.

Ben Arfa pulled one back from the penalty spot with 17 minutes to go following Anthony Gardner's handball - but Spurs held on for victory.
