Stoke drew 1-1 with Israeli outfit Hapoel Tel Aviv in Austria.
City boss Tony Pulis named a strong side with Abdoulaye Faye, Ryan Shawcross, Matthew Etherington, Liam Lawrence, Rory Delap and James Beattie all included in the starting XI and they went ahead just after the half-hour through Salif Diao.
However Europa league side Hapoel sealed a draw as Douglas da Silva levelled just after the break.
