Chief executive Peter Storrie has expressed his delight for manager Paul Hart following Portsmouth's upturn in Premier League form.

Pompey carved out an unwanted piece of history by losing their first seven league matches of the season amid shambolic scenes off the field and the ownership of the club changing hands.

The dismal run of results prompted calls for Hart to be sacked but chief executive Storrie kept faith with the under-fire boss and has been rewarded.

Portsmouth have picked up seven points from their last four games and could move out of the relegation zone with a victory over Blackburn this Saturday.

"I'm delighted for Paul. He deserves success," Storrie said in The Sun.

"It's been such a tough time for everyone but he has been an absolute brick right the way through it."

Storrie believes it was a brave decision from both the club and Hart not to make a change when the outlook appeared so bleak.

"It would've been easy to say we're losing games so we need to let Paul go," he explained.

"A lot of managers in his position would have said they wanted to go because he has been taking stick from some of our own fans. There have been campaigns to get him out.

"He has ridden above that and we know he's doing a great job.

"Paul has always had great support from all of the players."
