Hull keeper Boaz Myhill could find himself as Wales' number one in next week's friendly in Denmark.
The 26-year-old has made just two appearances for Wales and only made his debut this year in Luxembourg, but has made a big impression with the Barclays Premier League newcomers this season.
Wolves youngster Wayne Hennessey, now with 14 caps, has been out of favour at Molineux in recent weeks, and his lack of first-team football could give Wales boss John Toshack the reason for promoting Myhill.
Hennessey, 21, has been the subject of reported interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton, and bids are certain in the January transfer window for the Anglesey-born keeper.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy insists Hennessey is not for sale as the club bid for promotion to the top flight, but that is not expected to deter buyers come January.
Toshack may well decide to give both keepers a half each in the November 19 friendly in Brondby, Copenhagen.
The game will also see the full international debut of Arsenal's teenage midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who was among the 21-man squad named by Toshack yesterday.
And the youngster will create a unique record in Welsh football, having played in an FA Cup final and the Champions League before winning his first full cap.
Ramsey, who will be 18 on Boxing Day, has been deliberately held back by Wales boss Toshack to help the Under-21s in their now-failed quest to reach the UEFA Championship finals next summer in Sweden.
Ramsey was outstanding in both recent play-off matches with England, and scored a sensational long-range goal in the drawn second leg at Villa Park last month.
Wales' youngsters eventually failed narrowly, 4-5 on aggregate, and the former Cardiff player, who moved to the Emirates in the summer after turning down Everton and Manchester United, can now begin a full international career that many in Wales believe could one day emulate Ryan Giggs.
Ramsey came on as a late substitute in Cardiff's FA Cup final defeat by Portsmouth at Wembley last season, and has already played and scored in the Champions League for the Gunners.
Toshack now has the opportunity to see what could well be Wales' central midfield partnership for years to come, with Ramsey likely to be paired with West Ham's Jack Collison.
Collison has also made his breakthrough into the Premier League this season, and scored his first senior goal for the Hammers on Saturday on his home debut in the defeat by Everton.
Collison and Ramsey were the central midfield pair for the Under-21s, and will now be given the chance to cement their place in the seniors.
Cardiff's Joe Ledley is also back after being forced out of the last two World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Germany with a groin problem.
Also recalled is Under-21 skipper Neil Eardley, 19, while Toshack has opted for only three strikers. Youngsters Ched Evans and Sam Vokes will compete for the role alongside captain Craig Bellamy up front.
