Blackburn manager Mark Hughes has denied speculation he has made a bid for Wigan midfielder Jason Koumas.

Hughes has been linked to the 28-year-old after working with him when in charge of the Welsh national side.

But he was quick to dispel the rumours, despite admitting that he admires the Wales international.

"There's obviously speculation because obviously I've worked with him before," he told The Daily Star.

"I think he's a talented boy, but we've not made a bid for Jason Koumas."
