Derby boss Paul Jewell believes £2million striker Emanuel Villa will waste little time in adapting to the physical nature of the Barclays Premier League.
The 25-year-old signed a three-and-a-half-year deal on Friday and will be paraded in front of the Pride Park faithful before Sunday's FA Cup clash with Sheffield Wednesday.
The powerful forward has signed from Mexican outfit UAG Tecos and Jewell is confident that the Derby fans will warm to a player he describes as "a striker of the highest quality".
"This is a very exciting capture for us," Jewell told the club's official website.
"I believe Emanuel is a striker of the highest quality. He's a player I've known about for a long time and someone I was very keen to bring here.
"I've seen him play myself and his reputation in Central America is very high.
"He's quick, good in the air, strong, and physical and he has a good record in front of goal.
"I think he's a player the Derby fans will quickly take to. His attributes give me no doubt that he'll adapt to the English game quickly."
Chairman Adam Pearson has promised Jewell funds to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window, despite the Rams seemingly destined for an immediate return to the Coca-Cola Championship.
He added: "We are delighted to welcome Paul Jewell's first major signing. He comes with a good reputation and we are excited about seeing him in a Derby shirt."
