Derby-day hero Milan Baros has revealed his disappointment at his first campaign with Aston Villa and admitted: "This has been my worst season in England."
David O'Leary's £6 million summer capture from Liverpool netted twice against Birmingham to take his goal tally to a healthy 12 in 26 starts for the midlands club.
But the Czech Republic international sets himself high stands and insists Villa supporters have not seen the best of him during the 2005-2006 campaign.
An Achilles problem blighted the early part of the season for Baros and he has only just returned to action after an ankle injury.
But he is determined to end the campaign on a high, starting with Tuesday's clash at Wigan, and push Villa towards the top half of the table after relegation fears were finally banished with victory against Blues.
Baros said: "It's been frustrating for me because I've had some injuries which have held me back. It's never easy to be out of action because you want to be in the team and making a difference on the pitch.
"Villa fans have definitely not seen the best of Milan Baros this season. Injury hasn't helped but you've also got to bear in mind this is my first season at the club.
"It hasn't been my best season. I would say it's been my worst season in England. I will try to do my best in the future and hopefully things will improve.
"As a team we're definitely looking for a better season in 2006-2007 because there are some good players here. It's a solid squad and has a good mixture of experience and youth."
Baros added: "I want now to play my best football. We have got four more games. The squad is strong but we have had a lot of injuries and it is quite difficult for the manager to pick the right team if he has six or seven players out injured.
"A victory like the one against Birmingham can lift the club. It was the same when I used to play for Liverpool against Everton. It was a special game and always gives you a lift if you win those games.
"All the team, the manager and all the club were under pressure and we just wanted to get away from that and the best way to do that was to win on Sunday.
"That was the most important thing. Now we can look forward for the rest of the season and try and finish on a high.
"We can go to Wigan and play with a bit of confidence. If we can play like on Sunday, we will probably get more points before the end of the season."
Baros has again played down speculation over his future although there is a get-out clause in his contract if any interested club can meet an asking price of around £16 to £18 million.
He said: "We have four games left of the season at Villa and we are going to see what is going to happen in the summer. We will see what is going to happen after the World Cup. I am just thinking about Villa. Nothing else is in my mind now."
Craig Gardner is poised to start at the JJB Stadium in place of midfielder Steven Davis who is likely to be sidelined for the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury suffered in the first half against Blues.
But skipper Olof Mellberg remains a fitness doubt with his hamstring injury.
