Manchester City duo Andy Cole and Nedum Onuoha will stay at home to work on their fitness when the club head off on a two-match China tour tomorrow.
Cole has been troubled by a hamstring problem while Onuoha has a calf strain.
City face Shanghai Shenhua on Friday before taking on Kashima Antlers two days later.
Manager Stuart Pearce, who took the squad to Thailand last summer, is hoping to raise the club's profile in the Far East.
"One draw for us to go to Shanghai is the Chinese people's love of the Premiership," he told www.mcfc.co.uk.
"It can only be good for our club and hopefully people will follow us after the tour."
