Riccardo Scimeca has become newly-promoted West Brom's first summer signing
after he made the switch from Leicester for a small undisclosed fee.
The versatile Scimeca, who can play in defence or midfield, has penned a
three-year deal after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.
Scimeca, who made 29 appearances during his one season with the relegated
Foxes, has a wealth of experience with Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest and
boss Gary Megson was "really pleased" to have secured the services of the
former England Under-21 international.
The 28-year-old invoked a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if the
club was relegated and Scimeca chose to join the Baggies rather than Nationwide
Division One champions Norwich, who had also been interested in securing his
signature.
He told the club's official website, www.wba.co.uk: "I enjoyed my time at
Leicester but I couldn't resist the opportunity of playing Premiership football
again.
"West Brom deserve to be in the Premiership. Hopefully I can help them stay
there."
