Leeds have rejected a season-long loan bid for captain Dominic Matteo from
Manchester City.
With virtually nothing to spend in the transfer market, City manager Kevin
Keegan is having to shop around as he bids to strengthen his squad for next
season.
After being unable to sign Daniel van Buyten, who spent last season on loan at
City from Marseille, due to the cash constraints, Keegan has attempted a loan
bid for Matteo.
The former Scotland international centre-back was one of the few star
performers last season for Leeds whose campaign ended in the misery of
relegation.
But Leeds will only listen to cash offers for the 30-year-old, and it could
take as little as £1million for the club to part with Matteo.
