David Livermore crashed home his first league goal of the season to earn 10-man Millwall a vital point in their battle against relegation from the Coca-Cola Championship.

The former Arsenal trainee struck 10 minutes from time to cancel out Jon Parkin's opener for Hull just 90 seconds before.

Parkin looked to have won the game for the Tigers when he latched on to Keith Andrews' pass to hold off the challenge of two Millwall defenders and slide the ball beneath the advancing Andy Marshall.

But Livermore lashed a spectacular half-volley into the top left-hand corner from the edge of the penalty area to earn the Lions a share of the spoils.

Earlier, Millwall defender Paul Robinson was sent off for a cynical trip on Hull forward Craig Fagan.

Robinson received his marching orders in the 36th minute when referee Lee Probert brandished a straight red card after the defender had hacked down Fagan as he bore

down on goal.

After a cautious opening the lull was almost broken in spectacular fashion with a long-range drive from Millwall striker Ben May.

May, back in David Tuttle's starting line-up after being on the bench in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at QPR, picked the ball up on the left 25 yards from goal before unleashing an early right-foot shot which whistled narrowly passed the post with Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill rooted to the spot.

Myhill was more lively soon after, diving to his left to tip Marvin Elliott's curling effort from the edge of the penalty area around the post.

And the American was called into action again from the resulting corner when he palmed May's point-blank header over the crossbar.

May flashed a long-range effort wide of the target midway through the first half before Leon Cort headed Stuart Elliott's centre straight into the arms of Marshall when Hull threatened for the first time.

Robinson saw red in the last meaningful action of the first half and Hull emerged after the break looking to press home their numerical advantage.

Tuttle's side were forced to play on the counter-attack and Philip Ifil shot wide just before the hour mark.

Former Chelsea star Jodie Morris had Myhill scrambling across his goal with a curling effort but his shot swerved agonisingly wide of the post.

Long-range drives from Ryan France and substitute Stuart Green forced Marshall into acrobatic action to tip over the bar, but there was nothing Marshall could do to prevent Parkin from opening the scoring soon after.

owever, Hull's lead did not last long as Livermore restored parity with only the Lions' eighth league goal at the New Den this season.
