Everton manager David Moyes believes the club's injury crisis is having a draining effect on the remaining fit players in his squad.

Moyes was conducting a roll call at the club's Finch Farm training ground on Friday to see who might be available to face Bolton on Sunday at the Reebok Stadium.

Russian winger Diniyar Bilyaletdinov was the latest player to be struck down last night in the 5-0 thrashing by Benfica in the Europa League, finishing the match with a strapping on the thigh.

With Joseph Yobo (head), Leon Osman (ankle) and Leighton Baines (calf) all injured in the wake of the draw with Wolves at the weekend, Moyes does not have his problems to seek.

Steven Pienaar, Phil Neville, Phil Jagielka, Mikel Arteta, Victor Anichebe and James Vaughan are also all still receiving treatment.

Moyes said: "The injuries are beginning to drag me down. It is just beginning to weigh on us.

"The other thing is, it is weighing on the players as the same few are having to dig deep all the time.

"We are looking forward to getting a positive result though against Bolton. We know it will be hard but hopefully we will have one or two back in the squad."

John Heitinga and Lucas Neill are available again after missing the match in Portugal as they were ineligible.

With 11 players sidelined, Moyes was forced to field a makeshift defence. Dan Gosling came in at right-back while Seamus Coleman made his debut on the left.

The rookies were given a torrid time, especially in the second half, but Moyes lauded them for their efforts.

He said: "Tony Hibbert came in at centre-half, Gosling is not a right-back, Coleman is a right-back playing left-back on his debut on a big stage.

"The boy has only come over from Ireland a few months ago and been injured in that time. But that was it. That is what we had. I will tell you one thing, they never gave in.

"I have only got praise for the young boys because they came up against some serious players.

"When you go out there you still have to swim. That's your job. You are put out there as a professional.

"You have to find a way of dealing with it and they have seen the level they need to get to."

Everton slipped to second in Group I following the defeat, with the return match scheduled for Goodison Park on November 5.

Moyes added: "I would hope if we put out our strongest team we would be a match for Benfica.

"We have six points in the group and are in a good position. We know we are going to have to win more games but hopefully we can do that.

"I am looking forward to playing Benfica again when maybe we will have more players available."
