Two cracking Kevin Cooper strikes kept up Stockport's excellent home record
which has them in the midst of the play-off battle.
Gary Megson's side are still coming to terms with the £1.6m sale of striker
Alun Armstrong, for whom they have not yet found a replacement.
But winger Cooper weighed in brilliantly and veteran Andy Mutch gave his
manager a sharp nudge with an opportunist third.
Fellow play-off contenders Charlton dominated for most of the first half but
found Stockport keeper Eric Nixon in top form as he tipped fierce drives from
Bradley, Allen and Clive Mendonca over the top.
By then, Stockport were a goal up as Cooper caught the Charlton defence square
to fire a low drive past Andy Petterson.
Stockport's high tempo pushed the visitors aside after the break and Colin
Woodthorpe's driving 60-yard run set up Cooper's classy second goal on 53
minutes.
Mutch applied the finishing touch, a stooping header from Paul Cook's quickly
taken free kick to the far post.
