Alan Pardew intends to spend his transfer budget as quickly as possible to get Charlton back into the Barclays Premiership at the first attempt.
The rebuilding process for life in the Coca-Cola Championship has already started, with veteran striker Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink released on Monday after just one season.
China international Zheng Zhi, Arsenal midfielder Alex Song and Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson have all come to the end of their loan spells.
It remains to be seen whether England duo Darren Bent and Luke Young will be happy to remain at The Valley and outside the top flight next season.
The futures of several senior players - such as Matt Holland, Dennis Rommedahl, Bryan Hughes, Hermann Hreidarsson and Talal El Karkouri - also have to be resolved.
Pardew maintains "there is hope for next season", but will not be slow in remoulding his squad for the battles ahead.
"I want to make a point to the Charlton fans that we are acting quickly and positively," said the Addicks boss.
"I am going to try to spend as much as I can as quickly as I can on quality players.
"We have a lot of people out of contract and we need to sit down and talk. Obviously things will happen."
Pardew added: "We have gone down in the right manner and the important thing is to re-structure for next season.
"The fans can feel that we have some hope for next year, and I believe we can come straight back.
"Of course, we will be a big scalp in the Championship next year, so we will have to live with that tag.
"I am hoping we put our egos to one side and build."
With Thomas Myhre to return to Norway and Carson heading back to Liverpool, Pardew could well opt to start the new campaign with youngster Darren Randolph in goal.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international made his debut at Liverpool on Sunday and produced a number of decent stops during the 2-2 draw.
Pardew has every confidence in the 20-year-old's ability.
He said: "You cannot put a performance like that in without a lot of hard work that no-one ever sees."
Charlton announced season-ticket prices for the 2007-08 Championship campaign have been frozen.
Nearly 17,000 supporters renewed ahead of the cut-off point in April, and they are all promised a free Premiership season ticket should the Addicks go straight back up.
Although that "special offer" is no longer available other than to the under-11s, there will still be significant savings.
Prices for new seats start from £315 for adults. With the number of home games going up from 19 to 23 in the Championship, it makes the cost of watching football at The Valley around £13 per match.
