Stephen Jordan's love for Manchester City runs deep. Not only was he was once a ball boy, he was a mascot as well.

He went on to achieve his ambition of playing for the club he admired more than any other.

On Saturday, however, the boot is on the other foot at Eastlands as Jordan, 27, now plies his trade with Burnley and they are looking for their first point on the road.

He said: "I have some good memories of my time at City as I was a fan. I was only eight when I joined the club.

"I will have some family and friends there on Saturday, so it should be a bit of a special day.

"It is incredible what has happened at City with the money and the players they have brought in.

"But I'm not envious. I'm getting games and feel as though I'm improving because of that.

"I would rather be playing regularly with Burnley rather than being in the fourth team at City. I'm happy here.

"That's all that matters. It's getting harder hard for young players to break through at City."

Now in his third season at Burnley, Jordan has worked his way back into the side at the expense of Christian Kalvanes, who was one of the mainstays as they won promotion last season.

Jordan is determined to keep the shirt and believes it is only a matter of time before they turn around their form away from Turf Moor.

He added: "People are making a bit of a deal about things but hopefully we can begin to replicate our displays at home.

"We will continue to compete in this league. Your need to raise your game week in, week out in the Premier League. If you are not 100 per cent you will get found out."

Five home wins have given Burnley a healthy tally already - they defeated Hull last weekend - and manager Owen Coyle insists they will continue to surprise people.

He could be tempted to name the same side after a convincing victory against Phil Brown's strugglers.

Coyle said: "We will be underdogs in everyone's eye. That is the nature of the game. But we believe in what we do.

"We are Premier League novices, who are evolving all the time. It is a learning curve and the players will get better.

"I think we have more points than a lot of people imagined but they will count for nothing if we do not continue our progress.

"The players need to improve every week so we can stay in the league but we are already showing we are a very good side. We have already beaten some top teams in the league."
