Brian Jensen has spoken of the honour he feels ahead of racking up his 250th appearance in a Burnley shirt in Sunday's derby with Blackburn.

The giant goalkeeper, a cult hero at Turf Moor, has been one of Burnley's outstanding performers in a debut Premier League season that has seen them exceed all expectations to date.

Jensen, affectionately known as Beast in the North West, has quickly acclimatised to life in the top flight having worked his way up the football pyramid during his time with the Clarets.

Sunday's game at Ewood Park is the first time Burnley and Blackburn have met in top-tier action since 1966 and Jensen feels there is no better fixture with which to mark his landmark appearance, which is also his 300th in English football following a spell with West Brom earlier in his career.

"I don't really count every single game but when I was told it was 250 games for Burnley and 300 in total I am honoured," Jensen told the club's official website.

"To have the opportunity to show what I can do in so many games and to play that many games I am chuffed.

"I just want to keep on going and see if I can get a lot more and see if I can manage to get towards 500."

Jensen arrived at Burnley six years ago and is now the club's longest serving player.

The Dane played the last time the two sides met back in 2005 and while Rovers came out on top in that FA Cup tie, the 34-year-old is confident there could be a reversal in fortunes on Sunday.

"We are playing in the best league in the world so there is so much at stake now," he added.

"And with it being a local derby as well it makes it even more exciting.

"All the lads are talking about it and looking forward to it and hopefully we will get a good result."
