The inevitability which has been hanging over Bradford since the start of the
year finally became reality on Saturday when the Bantams were relegated from the
Premier League.
The last 10 months, since last season's saviour in Paul Jewell walked out on
Bradford, has arguably been the most dramatic in the club's history.
European football, two managerial changes, controversial signings and a host
of departures have been just some of the highlights - or lowlights depending on
your point of view.
Here, PA Sport details the story of Bradford's 2000-2001 campaign.
June 19: Jewell resigns as manager after two-and-a-half years in charge
during which time he took the club into the Premier League and kept them up on
the last day of last season
June 22: Chairman Geoffrey Richmond surprisingly appoints Jewell's assistant
Chris Hutchings as the new manager on a two-year contract.
July 2: Hutchings celebrates his managerial debut with a 3-1 win over FK
Atlantas of Lithuania in the Intertoto Cup, the club's first game in Europe.

from Sheffield Wednesday.

£2.5million from Leeds.
July 30: Bradford sign Romania international Dan Petrescu for £1million.

Waalwijk in the Intertoto Cup, Bradford bow out of the competition at the
semi-final stage to Russian outfit Zenit St Petersburg.

August 19: Open the new league season with 1-0 defeat at Liverpool.
August 22: Bradford's result of the season as they beat Chelsea 2-0 at Valley
Parade, sparking hope for the future.

at Valley Parade, ahead of goalless draw with Leicester, after losing a bet with
Richmond the previous season that Bradford would be relegated.
September 5: Worst result of the season as Bradford are hammered 6-0 at
Manchester United.
October 27: With rumours rife surrounding Hutchings' future, the City boss
takes a massive gamble by signing controversial striker Stan Collymore on a free
transfer from Leicester.
October 29: Collymore makes a spectacular debut by scoring with an overhead
volley in a 1-1 home draw with Leeds.
November 1: Bradford bow out of Worthington Cup with a 4-3 defeat against
Newcastle at St James' Park. Richmond taken to hospital following the game after
suffering a health scare.
November 6: With Bradford 19th in the Premiership and without a league win
since the Chelsea game, Richmond sacks Hutchings.
November 11: Bradford, under the caretakership of skipper Stuart McCall, hit
rock-bottom with a 1-0 defeat at home to Everton.
November 18: Former Hearts boss Jim Jefferies, although not yet confirmed as
the new City manager, watches Bradford suffer a 2-0 defeat at Derby.

year contract.

McKinlay from Blackburn on a free transfer until the end of the season.
November 25: Bradford 2-0 up at Middlesbrough inside first 10 minutes, but
Jefferies' first game in charge ends in a 2-2 draw.
December 1: Robert Molenaar becomes Jefferies' second signing, completing a
£400,000 move from Leeds.
December 9: Following a 2-1 home win over Coventry the week previously,
Bradford lift themselves off the foot of the table with a 3-3 draw against
Spurs.
December 16: A 2-1 defeat at Newcastle sends Bradford back to the bottom -
where they have since remained.
January 1: A run of three defeats ends with a 2-1 win at Leicester - their
only away league victory of the season.
January 8: Bradford knocked out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle with a 1-0
defeat at home to Middlesbrough in front of just 7,300. Jefferies announces
Collymore, Carbone and Petrescu have no part to play in his future plans.
January 12: Petrescu is first out of the door with free transfer move to
Southampton.
January 31: Collymore also leaves after just seven appearances for City,
joining Spanish side Real Oviedo.
February 16: Richmond quashes speculation he is set to resign at the end of
the season.

to West Ham, and with Carbone playing his first game since January 8 after
previously being frozen out of the picture.
March 15: David Hopkin joins former club Crystal Palace for £1.5million, a
£1million loss on a player City signed in the summer.
March 16: Middlesbrough finally complete signing of Dean Windass, with the
deal - worth up to £1million - having had to be renegotiated due to problems.
March 17: Run of five successive defeats ends with 2-2 home draw with
Manchester City.
March 19: Andy O'Brien joins Newcastle for £2million, becoming the 12th player
to leave Bradford in two months under Jefferies as the club continue to prepare
for life in the First Division.
March 22: Middlesbrough fail to sign Carbone on transfer deadline day due to a
dispute over the length of contract.
April 13: Bradford finally win their first game since New Year's Day with a
2-0 victory over Charlton at Valley Parade.
April 21: Achieve back-to-back victories for the first time this season, and a
second successive clean sheet, with another 2-0 win, this time over Derby.
April 28: Bradford relegated from the Premiership following the 2-1 defeat at
Everton. They missed two penalty kicks.
