Bartley took the decision to leave The Emirates after finding first-team football almost impossible to come by.
Time spent out on loan, most notably at Rangers, gave him a taste of what it is like to play week in, week out and the 21-year-old decided the time was right to take on a new challenge.
Ahead of an FA Cup third round replay against his former employers on Wednesday, Bartley said: "I've no regrets over leaving Arsenal because I believe everything happens for a reason."
"I still had a couple of years left on my contract and if I wanted to stay, the option was there for me. But I wanted to go somewhere where I was more capable of playing games."
"My thigh injury hampered that earlier this season, but I want to kick on from here."
"I don't think I've anything to prove to Arsene (Wenger). He knows what I'm capable of and the type of player I am. Unfortunately, I was in the wrong place at the wrong time."
