After being surprisingly overlooked for Sunday's Barclays Premier League win over Liverpool, Hernandez is likely to be recalled for tomorrow's FA Cup third-round replay with West Ham at Old Trafford.

Being left on the bench did seem a bit harsh on the Mexico forward given his outstanding contribution to United's Christmas campaign.

But it is typical of Hernandez that he shrugs such issues to one side, such is his determination to improve and his burning desire to help United towards more silverware.

"I'm not saying I'm the perfect player," he told www.manutd.com.

"I am always looking to improve my game, whether that's my play outside the box or also inside it."

"I still think there is work for me to do. But the reason I want to improve is so that I can help the team."

"It's not just that I want to score more goals. It's a group sport and so I want to do what I can to help the team get the right results every week."

Hernandez is one of the best penalty box predators in the game though.

His present tally of 12 is exceeded at United only by star man Robin van Persie.

And he accepts the Red Devils' speedy approach to the game suits him down to the ground.

"In the history of Manchester United, the team plays a very direct, attacking game," he said.

"We want to get to the goal as quickly as we can. Whether it ends in a goal or a goal-kick, we want to play with speed."

"But the important thing at this club is that we can express ourselves."

"We don't feel too much pressure in that respect because every time we go out on the field the gaffer tells us, 'Go out, enjoy yourself and do your best'.

"That's been important to us doing well so far this season."

"But we are not saying that it's over."
