  • David Moyes was born in Bearsden (Glasgow) on 25th April 1963. He is the son of David Sr, who before being an Everton scout was a pattern-maker.
  • His playing days spanned from 1980 to 1999. As a centre back, he began his career at Celtic, featuring 24 times and winning a championship medal.
  • Moyes clatters into Mark Hateley during his time at Dunfermline in the early '90's. The Scot made over 100 appearances for the East End Park club.
  • A six year stint at Preston saw his transition into management, taking over the Division Two strugglers from Gary Peters in 1998.
  • In his first season he saved the club from relegation, then 12 months later they crashed out of the play-offs. In 2000 he won the Division Two title.
  • Moyes was unveiled as the new Everton manager on 14 March 2002, succeeding fellow Scot Walter Smith.
  • He wins his first game in charge, beating Fulham 2-1. The club go on to finish 15th that season.
  • In August '02 a 16-year-old Wayne Rooney is handed his professional debut by Moyes. The pair clashed after the publication of Rooney's autobiography in '06
  • Everton finished 7th in Moyes's first full season and he won the LMA Manager of the Year.
  • A fourth place finish in 04-05 lead to his only Champions League experience to date, but Everton crashed out at the qualifying stage against Villarreal.
  • Moyes shattered Everton's transfer record by signing Marouane Fellaini for £15m. The Belgian midfielder followed him to Old Trafford
  • After beating Manchester United on penalties in the 2009 FA Cup semi-finals, Moyes took Everton to their first cup final since 1995.
