Real Zaragoza have appointed Javier Irureta as their second new coach in just over a week.
The former Deportivo La Coruna boss takes over from Ander Garitano, who stepped down on Monday evening just seven days after taking the job.
A statement on the club's official website said: "Irureta is a top-level coach with a great experience and an impressive track record."
Irureta, who has signed a contract to the end of the season, resigned as coach of Real Betis over a year ago and has been out of management since.
He had an impressive record at Deportivo, for whom he won their only Primera Liga title and the Copa del Rey.
Garitano was promoted from youth team coach on January 14 - a day after Victor Fernandez's departure - but resigned on Monday evening.
The former Zaragoza player wanted to offload Andres D'Alessandro in the January transfer window, citing inappropriate behaviour, and bring in a new central defender - but both requests were refused by majority shareholder Agapito Iglesias.
