Gretna striker Kenny Deuchar could be set for a shock move to the United States.
The 27-year-old is considering a move away from the Clydesdale Bank Premier League strugglers to join Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake.
The lucrative move would also bring with it the chance to work in a local medical centre for Deuchar, who is a practising doctor.
The big forward, who scored two goals in the 4-2 defeat against Rangers on Sunday, has openly admitted his desire to be transferred.
And according to Gretna's chief executive Graeme Muir, Deuchar is seriously considering the switch to America.
Muir said: "There has been a lot of interest in Kenny and while we wouldn't like to see him go, he is seriously considering this move.
"They have offered him a contract and the added attraction is that he could also work as a doctor over there.
"It is a big decision for him."
According to Muir, a decision by Deuchar to leave the club could rule him out of Wednesday night's match against Kilmarnock.
It is a massive game for Gretna as Killie sit 12 points ahead of them at the bottom of the league.
A win is a must for the relegation-threatened Black and Whites, however there are doubts about the game going ahead due to the state of the Fir Park pitch.
Gretna have been groundsharing there with Motherwell and, according to Muir, the surface has returned to a state similar to its alarming condition during much of January.
Muir said: "There will be an early-morning pitch inspection tomorrow to assess.
"It's taken a lot of heavy rain so we will see how it looks in the morning."
If the game does go ahead, Muir admits the result could well shape Gretna's future.
But the chief executive has faith in stand-in boss Mick Wadsworth to lead the side to a positive result.
"It's a big game for us but I think Mick Wadsworth is able to get the best out of them," he said.
"I felt on Sunday, in the second half in particular, we played very well.
"It was a very creditable performance at Ibrox considering we have a very young side and the week from hell that we went through."
Gretna's troubles appear to be over after owner Brooks Mileson was able to sanction payments to staff and players following his illness.
Muir says the drama has installed a sense of reality at the club.
"We have got through it and we survived despite certain people saying this time last week that we were finished," he said.
"There is a reality now about what need to do to be a viable club and I think Mick Wadsworth has brought a lot of that with him.
"We can't keep relying on Brooks all the time, and him, myself and Mick are working hard to make the side more youthful and be in a position where we can sell players on we have brought in."
