Genoa will be hoping they can carry the momentum from their midweek Europa League win against Lille into the domestic competition as they look to keep pace with the top six.

Gian Piero Gasperini's men fell one point behind sixth-placed Fiorentina last weekend as they were held to a goalless tie at Palermo.

Genoa also looked to be heading for a draw on Thursday night in Europe before Giuseppe Sculli grabbed a stoppage-time winner for a 3-2 triumph over Lille at the Luigi Ferraris stadium.

The result allowed the Grifoni to reignite their hopes of reaching the last 32 of the Europa League.

And it will allow them to switch their attention fully back to the league on Sunday when they host Siena.

"It was fair that the game (against Lille) finished like it did," said Sculli.

"We lost concentration when we were 2-0 up and they did a good job to get back in the game.

"But we never gave up and in the end we were rewarded.

"It is a great satisfaction, now we can focus on the game against Siena, which is an important clash for our position in the standings.

"We are going through a good patch and we want to take advantage.

"A win on Sunday will allow us to go into the international break with breathing space."

Gasperini hopes their fans will again inspire his team to victory having played a crucial role in their midweek success.

"I would like to invite our fans, who were brilliant against Lille, to show the same support on Sunday," he said.

"I want to thank our fans because they have stayed close to the team in the difficult times and we would like to reward them on Sunday with another win."

Foot-of-the-table Siena travel to Genoa inspired by last weekend's 1-1 draw against Lazio.

The result allowed new coach Marco Baroni to claim his first point since taking charge of the Tuscan outfit four days earlier following the sacking of Marco Giampaolo.

Siena captain Massimo Maccarone is confident Baroni is the right man to help the team turn around their disappointing campaign.

The Bianconeri have mustered one win so far this season.

"The coach has really motivated us this week and I liked the way he approached the game against Lazio," said Maccarone.

"He has done a great job with the youth team and I am convinced he will do well with us."

Genoa will be without injured Bosko Jankovic, Ivan Juric and Houssine Kharja as well as goalkeeper Marco Amelia.

Amelia has failed to recover from a muscle injury that saw him miss the last two games.

To add to Gasperini's woes, defender Giuseppe Biava serves a one-match ban.

The only consolation for the Grifoni is that Domenico Criscito and Ivan Fatic have recovered from their respective injuries and will play tomorrow.

Siena welcome back midfield duo Michele Fini and Simone Vergassola from suspension.
