Bari midfielder Salvatore Massiello has warned struggling Livorno that his team-mates will pull out all the stops in a bid to get back to winning ways on Sunday.

The Galletti, who have slipped down to 11th place, lost 2-0 at Parma before earning a point at Sampdoria last weekend.

Their goalless draw at Samp was of little consolation for Giampiero Ventura's side as Paolo Barreto missed a last-gasp penalty while, deep into stoppage time, Leonardo Bonucci saw a goal wrongly ruled out for offside.

"Every match can teach you something, result aside, and when you miss opportunities you have to analyse your mistakes and have the strength and conviction to rise up again," said Massiello.

"We are disappointed not to have claimed all three points against Samp but we must accept the result and move on.

"This week we have been preparing fully for Livorno and have the desire to win. It is important to confront every game with a winning spirit.

"Livorno will arrive in Bari with the aim of taking home some important points but I think it is important not to think too much about the opponents."

Massiello knows his side, who have failed to score in their last two games, will be put to the test by Serse Cosmi's Livorno.

Like Bari, Livorno's priority this season is to avoid the drop.

"Our aim remains to retain our Serie A status," said Massiello. "That is Livorno's intention as well so we expect a classic Serie B game, with two teams that will not give up much space.

"This game is more complicated than others because we know that Livorno will not allow us to play our game."

Bari will fancy their chances of claiming at least a point at the weekend as they have the best defensive line in the competition with just seven goals conceded in 11 matches.

Moreover, Livorno, who go in search of their first win on the road this campaign, have mustered just two goals on their travels so far.

The visitors will look to put their 2-0 defeat to Inter Milan at the back of their minds as they attempt to claim their third win of the campaign.

Last weekend's result left Livorno 18th in the standings, level on nine points with Bologna, who hold the last position of safety.

A victory at the San Nicola could see the Amaranto climb out of the drop zone.

"We need to forget about our slip to Inter," said Livorno midfielder Davide Moro.

"We showed against Inter that we have the right mentality and quality to do well.

"We just need to focus on the positives and make the most of our chances in Bari."

The hosts will be without midfielder Antonio Langella, who serves a one-match ban, as well as striker Vitalj Kutuzov, who sustained an ankle injury last weekend.

Livorno will be hoping to recover veteran forward Cristiano Lucarelli in time for the match.

Lucarelli is struggling with an ankle injury and is doubtful for the encounter.
