Roma came from behind to beat Bologna 2-1 and get back to winning ways at the Stadio Olimpico.

Martins Adailton gave the visitors a 32nd-minute lead but Mirko Vucinic equalised with his first Serie A goal of the campaign three minutes later.

Simone Perrotta then struck for the first time in the league this season in the 53rd minute to hand Roma all three points.

Roma coach Claudio Ranieri will be hoping the outcome boosts his players' confidence ahead of Thursday's Europa League home clash against Fulham.

Roma halted a run of three consecutive league defeats, a stretch that had dropped the club to just two points above the relegation zone.

The win was all the more important considering how Roma had struggled in front of goal without top-scorer Francesco Totti, who is still out with a knee injury.

There was little sign of confidence in Bologna's play in the opening half with the hosts having the best of the chances.

Philippe Mexes should have given Roma an early lead after Bologna goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano failed to clear the ball inside the area but with an open goal, the French defender headed wide.

At the other end, Francesco Valiani's right-footed strike from the edge of the area proved an easy save for Roma goalkeeper Alexander Doni.

In the 11th minute, Vucinic warmed the palms of Viviano with a stinging drive from distance which the keeper parried away and out of danger.

Roma put a good move together midway through the first half with Jeremy Menez playing a one-two with Perrotta before firing high over the bar.

Bologna took the lead shortly after the half-hour mark.

David Pizarro lost the ball in midfield, resulting in a Bologna counter-attack.

Marco Di Vaio served Adailton inside the area and his right-footed strike beat Doni.

Bologna's celebrations were cut short as Roma hit back immediately.

Thiago Motta's powerful effort from inside the area was blocked by a Bologna defender but only as far as Vucinic, who fired in from close range.

The hosts twice had the chance to go in front before the break.

Motta struck inches wide of the near post after being served by Vucinic and soon after, Juan did well to get in front of Viviano but his header from a corner went high over the bar.

Roma looked more deadly with Ranieri's team talk apparently hitting the right note, and they went ahead in the 53rd minute.

Viviano parried away Menez's left-footed strike but only as far as Perrotta who tapped the ball into the back of the net.

In the 58th minute, Giacomo Tedesco's cross provided Di Vaio with a great chance at Doni's near post, but the veteran striker's volley was saved by the keeper.

On the hour mark, Viviano made a great save to keep out Vucinic's header from Pizarro's cross.

With seven minutes remaining, Di Vaio's strike beat Doni but went just over the bar as Roma held on for the win and climbed into 14th place.

The outcome leaves Bologna in the last position of safety but level on points with third-bottom Livorno.
