Walter Mazzarri has signed a two-year contract to become the new coach of Serie A side Sampdoria.

The 45-year-old has been one of the coaches of the season after guiding perennial strugglers Reggina to safety despite an 11-point deduction.

He replaces Walter Novellino who left the club after five years at the helm and is being widely linked with posts at Juventus, Torino, Bologna and Napoli.
