Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored an injury-time winner as Ajax claimed the Gatorade Cup on Sunday to deny Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven the domestic double.
The striker, who is set to feature for Holland in this summer's World Cup finals, followed up his 47th-minute opener with a last-gasp strike to ruin Guus Hiddink's final game in charge of PSV.
Hiddink's side had forced an equaliser in the 53rd minute through Michael Lamey before both teams were reduced to 10 men.
Tomas Galasek saw red for Ajax before Lamey was given his marching orders for PSV in what turned out to be a tempestuous second half.
The opening 45 minutes were tense and chances were at a premium.
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink headed over a fourth-minute free-kick while Markus Rosenberg saw his goalbound shot deflected off target by PSV defender Michael Ball two minutes later.
The rest of the half was dominated by defences but the stalemate was broken two minutes into the second period.
Wesley Sneijder delivered a superb corner and Huntelaar was there to head home from close range.
Lamey's equaliser was a sight to behold, the defender seizing on a weak defensive clearance to volley home in fine style from the edge of the area.
Galasek, in possibly his last game in an Ajax shirt, picked up his second yellow card in the 63rd minute with a rash tackle and was promptly dismissed.
But PSV were also reduced to 10 men eight minutes later when Lamey was handed his second booking of the match.
The ever-dangerous Huntelaar proved to be Ajax's hero when, in added-on time, he sneaked in front of his marker to bury Nourdin Boukhari's low left-wing cross.
