Four goals in 32 first-half minutes saw NAC Breda claim their sixth Eredivisie win of the season in Sunday's early kick-off against Willem II.
The teams started the game just four points apart, but the emphatic victory saw NAC move away from their opponents.
Kurt Elshot opened the scoring in the 13th minute following link-up play with Anthony Luring, the 32-year-old shooting into the top right corner of the goal from 25 yards.
Three goals in the space of 12 minutes then decided the outcome of the match.
In the 33rd, Donny Gorter sent in a free-kick from the left which reached Kees Kwakman - who sent a left-footed shot into the bottom left of the goal.
The hosts then got the third four minutes before half-time, following a slick passing move which started in their own area.
Leonardo brought the ball up the right, where he passed to Csaba Feher - who in turn crossed for striker Matthew Amoah to convert from close range.
The match was threatening to turn into a rout, with NAC again finding success in front of goal in the last minute of the half.
This time Leonardo beat two defenders and unleashed a left-footed shot which went into the bottom right of the goal to ensure the match was over as any kind of contest by half-time.
The hosts had chances in the second half through Patrick Zwaanswijk and Amoah - and the latter had a header cleared off the line - but NAC had already wrapped up the points anyway.
