Ajax moved within three points of Eredivisie leaders FC Twente with a 5-1 thrashing of nine-man Feyenoord.
Demy de Zeeuw scored a goal in each half while Feyenoord's Stefan Babovic (42) and goalkeeper Rob van Dijk (90) saw red to complete a miserable day for the visitors.
Urby Emanuelson and Gregory Van Der Wiel also got on the scoresheet before Luis Suarez capped the win with a late penalty.
Ajax made the brighter start and Marko Pantelic was inches away from connecting with Suarez's dangerous cross after two minutes.
Suarez then fired over the bar before Van Dijk saved well from Emanuelson's shot.
Feyenoord almost took the lead on 23 minutes but Ron Vlaar's powerful shot from long range crashed off the post.
Vlaar also forced Maarten Stekelenburg into a save soon after before it was Ajax's turn to be denied by the woodwork, Pantelic diverting a cross off the upright and then firing the rebound over the bar.
The breakthrough eventually came on 42 minutes when Pantelic crossed and De Zeeuw chested the ball into the net after initially missing an attempted header.
And things quickly went from bad to worse for Feyenoord as Babovic was sent off for an elbow on Jan Vertonghen.
Ajax quickly made their numerical advantage count in the second half, Emanuelson firing them 2-0 ahead on 47 minutes and Van der Wiel making it 3-0 just after the hour.
Pantelic also headed against the bar before Feyenoord pulled a goal back through Denny Landzaat on 74 minutes.
But any faint hopes of a comeback were ended when De Zeeuw grabbed his second of the game seven minutes from time.
And Feyenoord's misery was complete when Van Dijk was sent off for bringing down Suarez, who scored his side's fifth from the penalty spot.
