Feyenoord will have to do without defender Giovanni van Bronckhorst for their KNVB Beker third-round clash against FC Den Bosch on Tuesday night.

The former Barcelona player has been left out of the squad as a precaution after suffering a groin injury in the 1-0 Eredivisie victory over VVV-Venlo at the weekend.

Tim De Cler will fill in for Van Bronckhorst at left-back - and the latter's absence should not pose too big a problem for Feyenoord, who meet a side ranked ninth in the second tier of Dutch football.

Heracles Almelo also face Jupiler League opposition in Haarlem, while amateur club De Treffers take on a NAC Breda team who have won back-to-back matches in the top flight.

Sparta Rotterdam host VVV-Venlo in one of three all-Eredivisie ties in the third round of the cup.

Vitesse Arnhem take on league strugglers FC Groningen, who are without suspended goalkeeper Brian van Loo, with PSV Eindhoven travelling to Roda JC.

PSV are unbeaten in the Eredivisie so far and sit two points behind leaders FC Twente following a 4-0 thrashing of NEC Nijmegen at the weekend.

Roda are in the bottom three and looking to end a run of four matches without victory.

Twente are expected to take their place in the last 16 of the cup, because they face lower league opponents Capelle.

AZ Alkmaar are at home to another amateur side, Spakenburg, with coach Ronald Koeman demanding a better performance than the one which saw them beaten 4-2 at home to Ajax last weekend.

"I am furious about the way we gave goals away," he said of the loss.

"It has nothing to do with tactics. We simply conceded too easily and have to improve."

Ajax will travel to Dordrecht in the cup on Thursday, with Heerenveen meeting RBC Roosendaal and NEC taking on Excelsior 24 hours earlier.
