Two goals from Frank Demouge as well as strikes by Sergio Zijler and Said Boutahar guided Willem II to a vital victory which saw them leapfrog Heerenveen at the bottom of the Eredivisie.
Two goals in three minutes shortly after half-time from Zijler and Boutahar put the hosts in a strong position.
Michael Papadopulos pulled one back after 65 minutes but a double from Demouge clinched the win.
The hosts showed first but Zijler's pass to Demouge was weak and easily intercepted and they almost had a scare when Papadopulos shot over the bar.
The same player was threatening and he had a header cleared off the line.
Gerald Sibon then had a shot cleared away as Heerenveen came the closest.
Zijler then shot straight into the Heerenveen's keeper's arms as the first half ended goalless.
However, the same player opened the scoring three minutes after half-time when he hit a right-footed shot into the bottom corner.
Willem II then doubled their lead three minutes later when Boutahar pounced on the rebound after Marciano Bruma's shot was saved.
Papadopulos was then just wide with a shot but with 25 minutes to go the same player got his rewards when he scored with a simple header.
However, five minutes later the hosts restored their two-goal lead, Demouge pouncing after Jan-Aire Van der Heijen's shot had been saved.
Demouge got his second in the last minute when he converted Boutahar's ball from close range.
