Eredivisie leaders FC Twente turned on the style against FC Groningen with two goals in each half seeing them to a handsome win.
The victory was a sixth successive success for Steve McClaren's side, while the visitors, who had goalkeeper Brian van Loo sent off on the hour, are now winless in three outings.
Miroslav Stoch opened the scoring early in the opening period and Dwight Tiendalli added a second after 22 minutes before Blaise Nkufo, from the penalty spot, and the Bryan Ruiz sealed the win.
Stoch started things off five minutes in when he ran the ball from a deep midfield position, moved it onto his left foot and lashed home a drive from 25 yards.
Nkufo came close to adding a second after 11 minutes, but goalkeeper Van Loo was up to the challenge.
The second was not too long in coming, though, Tiendalli producing an audacious lob to clear Van Loo and hit the back of the net in the 22nd minute.
Van Loo's day went from bad to worse on the hour mark when he was shown a red card for hauling down Nkufo following an Andreas Granqvist slip-up.
Nkufo was the man to take the resulting penalty, beating replacement goalkeeper Luciano Da Silva with a cool finish.
Outclassed and outnumbered, Groningen were unable to find a way into the match and a fourth was inevitable.
It came from Ruiz with 10 minutes to play when he collected the ball on the edge of the penalty area and slotted into the left corner.
