Espanyol have revealed they are interested in signing midfielder Denny Landzaat from AZ Alkmaar.
AZ have previously said they are open to offers for the 30-year-old, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the 2006-07 season.
And Espanyol's technical director Paco Herrera would welcome the Dutch international's arrival at the Primera Liga club.
"I am intrigued by a player with his technical qualities and view of the game," Herrera told El Mundo Deportivo.
"I'm especially attracted by the calm way he plays. We need such a player," he added.
However, the two million euros (£1.4m) wanted by AZ could prove a sticking point with Espanyol saying the fee is too high.
