Ruud van Nistelrooy seems eager to forget his troubles at Manchester United and instead pour his energy into securing a place in Holland's World Cup squad.
The Dutch striker has so far refused to comment on his reported falling-out with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and rumours he may have burned his bridges at Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old, who joined United from PSV Eindhoven almost four years ago, is currently part of a get-together of Holland's World Cup hopefuls in Noordwijk.
And Van Nistelrooy is unconcerned his travails could affect his chances of being named in head coach Marco van Basten's 23-man squad for this summer's tournament in Germany.
He said: "I have no pains or complaints and I feel fit after a long and heavy season in England. I feel fitter than ever before and I cannot wait to go to the World Cup."
One reason van Nistelrooy might be fearful of his position in the national team is the emergence of Ajax striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar, who is in top form after netting more than 40 goals this season.
With van Basten indicating he will take only four strikers across the border to Germany, the pair could be competing for a single place.
However, van Nistelrooy believes the uncapped Huntelaar has earned his spurs and insists there is no rivalry between the pair.
"Klaas did a fantastic job and deserves a chance," van Nistelrooy said.
"I will help him as much as I can to make him feel comfortable, so he can achieve his best.
"Everyone must fight for his place in the squad. That has always been the case under van Basten. He never selects a player only because of the name of the player."
