FC Utrecht coach Foeke Booy has extended his contract by a further season and is now set to stay at the helm until June 2008.
Booy, who took over at Utrecht in 2002, has been rewarded for the team's successful campaign, in which the club finished sixth at the end of the regular season and only just missed out on a place in the Champions League play-offs following the 4-1 loss against Willem II on Sunday.
Utrecht will instead have the chance to battle for a berth in next season's UEFA Cup and Booy is looking forward to the challenges ahead.
He told www.fcutrecht.nl: "I wanted to commit myself to the ambitions of this club.
We reached a swift deal.
"Of course things could have been better yesterday but I am very happy with the trust the club has in me. We can go forward now."
Chairman Jan Willem van Dop also welcomed Booy's decision.
"This gives us rest and stability," Van Dop said. "If someone deserves the credits it's Foeke Booy.
