Germany boss Joachim Low has called up Schalke defender Christian Pander into the squad to face England next Wednesday.
The 23-year-old left-back replaces Werder Bremen's Clemens Fritz, after he pulled out with a torn stomach muscle.
Pander has yet to make a full international appearance for his country after being forced to pull out of Jurgen Klinsmann's squad for a 2004 tour of Asia due to injury, although he did pull on a Germany shirt for a charity match against a team of Bundesliga All-Stars in January 2005.
"I'm delighted that I've been given the chance - especially for a game like this one," Pander told the German press on Friday.
"My time seems to have come at last and it really is a great feeling."
Fritz joins Germany stars Michael Ballack, Torsten Frings, Tim Borowski, Marcell Jansen and Mario Gomez on the injury list, forcing Low to juggle his starting line-up considerably ahead of the friendly at Wembley.
